I will not have the impertinence to discuss or demonstrate details of the ryu to either non-members or members, even if they are relatives;<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"color: #094b6e;\">&#8211; I will not engage in altercations or misuse the art against others;<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"color: #094b6e;\">&#8211; I will not engage in any kind of gambling or frequent disreputable places;<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"color: #094b6e;\">&#8211; I will not cross swords with any followers of other martial traditions without authorization.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"color: #094b6e;\">I hereby pledge to firmly adhere to each of the above articles.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"color: #0d395b;\"><span style=\"color: #094b6e;\">Should I break any of these articles I will submit to the punishment of the Great Deity of<\/span> Katori and the Great Deity Marishiten.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"color: #0d395b;\">Herewith I solemnly swear and affix my blood seal to this oath to these Great Deities.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"color: #094b6e;\">Once completed, the applicant is recognized as a member of the tradition, with the pledge serving to teach them the correct approach toward the tradition and the learning process.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile is-vertically-aligned-top is-style-default\" style=\"padding-top:0;padding-right:0;padding-bottom:0;padding-left:0;font-size:1px;grid-template-columns:auto 52%\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color\" style=\"padding-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);font-size:40px\"><strong>Learning Process<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"color: #094b6e;\">Students are taught kata (pre-arranged routines) that are studied and practiced together with more senior practitioners under the supervision of their teacher.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"color: #094b6e;\">Training consists of the practice of prearranged forms that contain the art\u2019s quintessence, and enables students to gradually acquire the art\u2019s technical, theoretical and philosophical approach.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"color: #094b6e;\">The first kata learned are as follows.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #094b6e;\">&#8211; Omote no tachi (swordsmanship: 4 kata)<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #094b6e;\">&#8211; Omote iai (sword drawing: 6 kata)<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #094b6e;\">&#8211; Tachiai batto (standing sword drawing: 5 kata)<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #094b6e;\">&#8211; for our tradition, the shrine is Katori Jingu, through which divine power and protection are channeled to its members.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Annual Dedication (H\u014dn\u014d)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sacred Observance: Each year, the Shinbukan Dojo performs a ritualized demonstration at Katori Jingu.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Divine Communication: Led by Shihan Otake Nobutoshi and senior instructors (Shihandai), the demonstration of kata is considered a form of respectful communication and a spiritual offering (h\u014dn\u014d) to the deity.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Purpose: These performances express gratitude for divine protection, renew the practitioners&#8217;
